We passed by the bakery of a German discounter and had to go in for bread and fresh pastries. What Germans in exile miss the most is crusty German bread, rolls and Brezel. There are more than 3,000 significantly different recipes for bread due to the diversity of regional soil and climatic conditions and German bread is listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The crusty loaf we bought didn't survive long enough for a photograph :D
